Solitary Albert Woodfox A black man's story. A Black Panther. " Solitary is the unforgettable life story of a man who served more than four decades in solitary confinement—in a 6-foot by 9-foot cell, 23 hours a day, in notorious Angola prison in Louisiana—all for a crime he did not commit "
There is nothing for you here Fiona Hill Her autobiography. How she went from the poor Northeast of the UK to the White House. The book covers a lot of ground, most of which I was fully aware of. She has much criticism of the education systems and how women are held back - quite rightly.
And What Do You Do?: What The Royal Family Don't Want You To Know Norman Baker All one ever needed to know about the corruption of the UK monarchy. This should be taught in UK schools - it would lead to a rapid decline in the pathetic support of this over-priviledged family.
Regenesis George Monbiot A massive book about how we are failing, especially in feeding ourselves and how we could repent and restart.
There is a review of the book here.
Recommended.
Managing Expectations Minnie Driver Exceedingly well-written autobiography covering chunks of her life up until the recent death of her mother.
The Cure for Good Intentions Sophie Harrison A series of anecdotes of how she decided o take up medicine and her experiences. Funny.
Grey Bees Andrey Kurkov Short, delightful book about the war in Eastern Ukraine written by one of the best Ukrainian writers.
How much land does a man need? Leo Tolstoy An interesting short story of greed.
Aufs Ganze Sonia Mikich Interesting autobiography of an ARD journalist.
What Money Can't Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets Michael J. Sandel An interesting take on the commercialisation of almost everything around us. What have we allowed to happen? This is a sick society we populate, where people are consumers above all else.
