The French Lieutenant's Woman |
Watched this when it first came out. A powerful film. Romance up and down. Irons is not very good, whicle Steep is brilliant.
Die Falke |
Very good TV production from Arte. About a forensic doctor, her life and time with a falcon.
The Bridges of Madison County |
So much in this film, Steep is her usual brilliant. Remember the emotion of this film when it first came out. I also recal the actual "National Geographic".
Lupin |
Another series (Part 3) which is just as good as the first 2.
An Impossible Love - Un amour impossible |
A rather wonderful film in the classic "French" style. Personal and love/tragic. Very well acted. Gets to the heart and core.
The Last King of Scotland |
Apparently based on a true story. Set in Africa - Uganda - it seems to show many of the problems when a country (continent) is poorly managed. Ida Amin was presented as a joke in UK media at the times, but for the people under his "leadership" there was no laughing.
Lucy |
A strange, incomplete sci-fi with lots and lots of CGI. 100% brian power - wierd.
Sex Education - final series |
Interesting endings - wrapping up all (well nearly all) the loose ends. Made me think, especially about the fantasy of relion in a world where there is more than enough good to not need some lies to make it seem good.
Our Friends in the North |
A series about the UK, focused on the NE of the country with any number of actors who later became well-known. Quite depressing especially looking back on what transpired.
Indian Matchmaking |
Rather silly dating series. Some people are close to impossible.
Happiness for Beginners |
More Romcom.
A Tourist Guide to Love |
Romcom in Vietnam, oh, how sickeningly sweet.
Lykkevej |
Romcom in Denmak, now that's also really silly.
Oppenheimer |
Far too long and very loud. Well acted, well it had Matt Daemon.
That's Amor |
Romcom in the US of A, now that's really silly.
Faraway |
Romcom set in Croatia on the island of Šolta. About an older woman who inherits an old house from her mother. Kinda cute if silly.
Quote: "Old hen, good soup."

A Scanner Darkly |
This End-of-days movie flew straight over my head.
What's Love got to do With it? |
Another tax bill around the corner for the folk who put this one together. I feel so glad I don't live in London, it must be terribly confusing and totally irrelevant. Nice ending though...
The Lorax |
A creative animation of the unique "children's" book of the same name. In essence this describes the situation where there is a concensus that humanity wants and needs fossil fuels, but at the same time ignores the consequences. NPR 50 years later gives credit to the author.
Recommended.

A League of their Own |
Watched this when it first came out in a plane coming back from the US. Lady baseball players during WWII. Nostalgic.
The Stranger |
8-part series, suspenseful, based on a novel. Well acted about 2 women who blackmailed folk about secrets. A messy ending but well acted.
The Pez Outlaw |
Interesting put-together documentary about Pez collectors.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 |
More fun with twists and turns.
Recommended
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny |
What a mess, what was this all about. Waste of space and CGI for the sake of it.
23 Walks |
Old people romcom set in dreary London.
The Bank of Dave |
Fun flick based partly on a true story. The romantic parts are not so true to life, sadly.
The Good Shepard |
Matt Daemon, a favorite of mine. A CIA man who is as much a "company man" as one can imagine making a difficult decision. Well acted.
Page Eight |
Bill Nighy - well, as Bill Nighy. I only vagely remember watching this. A very well-crafted political thriller about the torture camps set up by the Americans.
Wonder 2017 |
Touching movie about a disfigured kid. Good performances by Jacob Tremblay, Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. 2019 |
I don't really know what this flick is all about - but maybe that's the point?
Armageddon Time 2002 |
Terrific acting from Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Anthony Hopkins, etc.. But, it leaves a rather depressing taste - reality.
Le Mans '66 |
Fun flick with Matt Daemon and Christian Bale on the making of the Ford GT40.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 1 |
Excellent acting and writing. Fast moving and entertaining. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo really fits the part.
Recommended
Boiling Point |
A difficult film to watch, too much going wrong. Very well acted.
Ticket to Paradise |
Someone had a massive tax bill to pay?
The Last of Us |
Distopia caused by a fungus. Scary, well actually troubling.. A bit like "The Road", but with crawlies. Pretty exhausting stuff and so many bodies, almost a mafia movie. The filming is amazing, how did they make all those buildings?
The Banshees of Inisherin |
A wierd film, not impressed, though the acting I though was very good.. |
Living |
Set in 1950's London featuring Bill Nighy as burocrat (well himself as per usual) working for the LCC. With a death sentence over him he gets a final project done. Touching, especially with Aimee Lou Wood - so sweet. |
Die Göttliche Ordnung |
About the vote for women 1971 in a small Swiss village - Appenzell. |
Spanglish |
Silly. |
Happy Valley |
This is an amazing series. The writing is as superb as he acting. Sally Wainright and Sara Lancashire. Recommended. |
Molly's Game |
An excellent movie with superb acting from Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba.
Not really a surprise when the screen writer is Aaron Sorkin,
based on the book by Molly Bloom. Much of the story is in fact true. Recommended.
Meet the Parents |
Schmaltz |
Wedding Season |
Silly Indian wedding saga, with a poorly told NGO story. |
Toscana |
Not a good film, but it is the Toscana... |
Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl |
Love her voice and the memories some of her tunes bring. |
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery |
Quite weird - maybe just like the lives of an über rich person. And, no, he can't do an american accent. |
Our Souls at Night |
Redford and Fonda in the evening of their lives. |
The Truffle Hunters |
Delightful documentary about searching for truffles in Italy. |
Kleo |
Netflix series based on a fictional story of a DDR killer. Somewhat like the Swedish Dragon Girl books and TC series. Very well done.
Recommended.
